Google Tag Manager has a lot of advantages for eCommerce stores. Once you’ve decided to switch you probably also need to move your existing Google Analytics installation over to GTM. The trickier part is the ecommerce Tracking functionality with Google Analytics. You can’t just migrate over to GTM and expect your old installation to work. You need to install the right dataLayer and transfer the right Variables to make your Tracking installation work.
In this video, I’ll show you how to install eCommerce Tracking with Google Tag Manager correctly. I’ll take you through the underlying concepts and what you need to prepare before you can have the data coming in accurately. We won’t cover the enhanced Ecommerce Tracking installation, just the traditional one.
